Stage It!

NAYD is committed to engaging with young writers to promote and develop new work.

The Stage It! script development programme offers young playwrights a unique opportunity to work closely with professional dramaturgs and directors in developing their scripts and ideas through a comprehensive drafting and rehearsal process.

This process is designed to encourage and to challenge young writers to develop their own style and identity through their writing, and create new work to be staged by young people.

Stage It! 2007

Following on from a successful pilot programme in 2006, Stage It! 07 will see five young playwrights working with dramaturg Thomas Conway to develop scripts for performance.

The young playwrights will explore the one-act form, then develop their scripts with the support of  workshops  and readings at key moments in the writing process.

There will be two rehearsed readings: scenes performed during the Dublin International Theatre Festival in October 2007, and the final performance of the completed One Act scripts in December 2007.

There will be another call for young playwrights to participate in the programme in 2008. Visit this page to stay in touch with Stage It! developments.
